This professional preparation program equips educators and related professionals to understand, diagnose, and deliver structured literacy intervention to students with dyslexia and related language-based learning differences.

Admission Requirements
Admission to the Mississippi Dyslexia Institute 2026 Cohort is selective. Applicants are evaluated on academic preparation, professional experience, and commitment to serving learners with dyslexia.
To be considered for admission, applicants must submit a complete application that satisfies the requirements below.
1. Academic Background
Bachelor’s degree (minimum) from an accredited institution
Official transcripts submitted from all post-secondary institutions attended
Graduate-level study is welcomed but not required.
2. Professional Résumé / CV
A current résumé or curriculum vitae detailing:
Educational background
Relevant teaching or clinical experience
Certifications and licenses
Professional accomplishments3. Short-Answer Responses
Applicants will complete a series of short-answer written prompts assessing:
Motivation for dyslexia-focused training
Alignment with MDI mission and values
Personal and professional experiences working with diverse learners4. Professional References (2)
Two professional references who can speak to the applicant’s:
Character
Work ethic
Capacity for clinical practice
Potential for success in the program
References may include:
Supervisors
Department chairs
Mentors
Colleagues
Professors
Family members or personal friends may not serve as references.
5. Transcripts
Applicants must submit official transcripts from all institutions where credit was earned.
Electronic delivery is preferred.6. Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee ($50) is due at submission.
