The Dyslexia Therapy Training program is designed to equip professionals with the skills necessary to address the unique challenges faced by individuals with dyslexia.

    Anyone with a strong commitment to supporting individuals with dyslexia is encouraged to apply.

  • No. A teaching license is not required.

    For those with a teaching license in the State of Mississippi, however, completion of the MDI Dyslexia Therapy Training Program will qualify graduates to receive the 203 Dyslexia Endorsement.

  • No prior experience is required. The MDI Dyslexia Therapy Training Program will provide professionals with comprehensive training that provides hands-on practicum experience.

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required, as well as a graduate degree in a related field.

  • Practicum placements can be coordinated with MDI’s partner network. More details will be shared upon admission.

  • The 2026 Cohort will be delivered in an in-person format.

  • Admission is selective. The committee evaluates each application holistically based on academic preparation, experience, mission alignment, references, and interview.

  • Yes. The program is designed to be compatible with full-time professional roles; however, applicants should expect a rigorous academic and practicum workload.

  • Applicants will be notified in April 2026.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Mississippi Dyslexia Institute 2026 Cohort is selective. Applicants are evaluated on academic preparation, professional experience, and commitment to serving learners with dyslexia.

To be considered for admission, applicants must submit a complete application that satisfies the requirements below.

1. Academic Background

Bachelor’s degree (minimum) from an accredited institution
Official transcripts submitted from all post-secondary institutions attended

Must also either have or be pursuing a graduate degree in a related field.

2. Professional Résumé / CV

A current résumé or curriculum vitae detailing:

Educational background
Relevant teaching or clinical experience
Certifications and licenses
Professional accomplishments

3. Professional References (2)

Two professional references who can speak to the applicant’s:

Character
Work ethic
Capacity for clinical practice
Potential for success in the program

References may include:

Supervisors
Department chairs
Mentors
Colleagues
Professors

Family members or personal friends may not serve as references.

4. Transcripts

Applicants must submit official transcripts from all institutions where credit was earned.
Electronic delivery is preferred.

5. Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee ($50) is due at submission.

6. Code of Conduct & Policy Agreements

Accepted applicants must agree to:

Academic integrity expectations
Professional ethics policies
Practicum and attendance policies

These agreements are signed within the application system.

7. Interview

Select applicants will be invited to participate in an interview with the Admission Committee.
